Waterfall/Area 81 Racing Honored At SCCA Banquets

At the end of each season, the North Carolina Region and the Southeast Division hold banquets to honor the achievements of their members. Waterfall/Area 81 Racing driver Tim Pierce and the Car 18 crew attended the Southeast Division banquet at the Sea Palms Resort in St. Simons Island, Georgia. He and his crew were awarded the South Atlantic Road Racing Championship in Formula 1000. The award included a championship plaque, jacket, duffle bag, T-shirts, decals, and patches. Earlier in January, Tim was awarded Driver of the Year at the North Carolina Region SCCA banquet in Wilmington, NC. Both awards were the first of his career.

Tim Pierce, Car 18 – “There’s a saying that comes to mind. ‘It takes a village to raise a child.’ I think it takes a village to field a racing team. Our team consists of family, friends, mentors, sponsors, partners, and fans. Without this support network, our achievements would not be possible. The trophies are engraved with my name, but our team earned them! Everyone associated with Area 81 Racing should be honored.”

Richard Franklin, Car 81 – “I want to congratulate my friend and teammate Tim Pierce on the 2014 SARRC Championship. In my mind he was a champion long before 2014, but he earned it in spades this year. As teammates, we push each other to excellence and our results as a team reflect that. Many thanks to our friends, family, crew, and sponsors.”

The team has been preparing for the new season since October. Newly secured partnerships in aerodynamics and engine development, as well as continued support from Waterfall Security Solutions, will help the team be more competitive than ever. The 2015 season promises to be the most exciting since Area 81 Racing entered the F1000 class. Car 18 will debut the newest generation GSXR 1000 engine, likely the first and only F1000 in the world with this package. Both cars will feature engine data collection and ECU tuning. The season resumes on March 7th at Virginia International Raceway.
