March Memories Post Race Notes

March 7th 2010 – Virginia International Raceway - Area 81 Racing wins March Memories SARRC. Area 81 Racing team drivers Tim Pierce and Richard Franklin placed 1st & 2nd respectively at Virginia International Raceway, continuing the momentum from the first race of the 2010 season. Pole winner Tim Pierce and teammate Richard Franklin dominated the front row of the grid and the top of the podium after trading positions twice during the race. This was Tim’s first official win in SCCA/SARRC Club Racing.

SEDIV SCCA Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet

Feb 6th, 2010 -- Richard Franklin accepts the 2009 Formula Continental Season Championship 2nd place trophy at the South East Division SCCA Awards Annual Banquet.

Held annually in the resort community of Jekyll Island, Georgia, the SEDIV Banquet is attended by approx. 400 fellow SCCA racers & officials. The SARRC series incorporates 19 SCCA regions with participants from 7 states.

Last Chance TT @ Roebling Rd. SCCA SEDIV Time Trials Series

"Area 81 Racing driver Richard Franklin fastest car on track. Takes home 1st place honors in the last Time Trial event of 2009"

Richard Franklin's Chews 4 Health Reynard was the fastest car on track out of 19 entries at the Savannah, GA/Roebling Rd. SCCA Time Trials. Finishing 1st place in FC class, Richard also gave good friend and crew member Denis Schembri the opportunity to drive the # 81 open wheel race car at speed. Although not accustomed to driving cars without fenders & doors, Denis adapted quite well & brought home the 2nd place trophy at the event.

Goblins Go SARRC Post Race Notes

Area 81 Racing is off to a fast start in the 2010 points race, dominating the podium again in the Goblins Go at Virginia International Raceway. Tim Pierce and Richard Franklin placed 2nd and 3rd in their class respectively in the first SARRC race of the 2010 season.

Area 81 Racing Team competitive at SARRC Invitational Challenge - Finish respectable 2nd & 5th in 2009 Season Points

Area 81 Racing drivers Tim Pierce & Richard Franklin finish 4th & 5th respectively in the final race on the 2009 SARRC calendar known as the SIC. The SIC is an invitation only race for the top points finishers in the SARRC season. Therefore, the level of competition is much higher than a regular SEDIV event. Tim had an exciting race as he had a fierce battle with a competitor driving a much newer car. They traded positions lap after lap for most of the 20 lap race. Richard, had a spin in turn 1 which dashed his FC Championship hopes, but in the end, both Chews4Health Reynards brought home respectable championship points.
